Two things you might not know
- In the 1800s it was mostly used to make sugar from sugar beets, by a method Dubrunfaut patented in 1849.
- Its salts give fireworks a deep red. Named after a Scottish village, and a radioactive isotope of it is a dangerous part of fallout.
